Warranty Policy
12-month limited warranty on manufacturing defects.
12-Month Limited Warranty
Pots For Grabs warrants that our GRC products are free from manufacturing defects for 12 months from the date of purchase.
In plain terms: if a pot fails because of how it was made, we sort it out. If it was dropped, knocked, left standing in frozen water with a blocked drainage hole, or has simply weathered with age, that falls outside the warranty. The full list is below.
What the warranty covers
- Structural failure under normal outdoor planting use within 12 months of purchase.
- Significant delamination of the GRC layers that impairs structural integrity.
- Severe cracking that develops without external impact within 12 months, indicating a material defect.
What the warranty does NOT cover
These are accidental damage, care issues, and normal ageing, rather than faults in how the pot was made.
- Impact damage. Cracks, chips or breaks caused by dropping, striking, tipping, dragging, or being hit by objects. GRC is strong for its weight, but it is cement and a hard knock can chip it.
- Frost damage from trapped water. Water that freezes and expands inside a pot whose drainage hole is sealed or blocked. Keep drainage clear and stand pots on feet in frost-prone areas.
- Cosmetic marks and variation. Surface crazing, fine hairline marks, and small differences in tone or texture. These are inherent to a handcrafted cast product and are not defects.
- Weathering and colour softening. Gradual surface weathering and colour change under UV exposure. This is normal for any outdoor material.
- Chemical damage. Contact with bleach, acid-based fertilisers, rust inhibitors, or solvents, all of which attack cement.
- Modified products. Anything that has been drilled, cut, painted, sealed, or structurally altered after purchase.
- Misuse or overloading. Use outside the intended purpose of the pot, including overloading, standing on it, or using it structurally.
- Normal wear and tear. Ordinary ageing over time with regular outdoor use.
- Unauthorised resellers. Products bought through a third party we did not supply directly.
These terms are in addition to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act and do not replace them.
Making a warranty claim
To make a warranty claim, email info@potsforgrabs.co.za with:
- Your order number
- Clear photographs of the defect
- A description of when and how the defect appeared
- Date of purchase
We will respond within 3 business days. If the claim is approved, we will offer a replacement (subject to stock availability), store credit, or partial refund at our discretion.
Note: The warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.
Care tips to protect your pots
- Always lift pots from the base, never drag across hard surfaces.
- Use pot feet or stands to allow drainage and prevent water accumulation in frost-prone areas.
- Do not seal drainage holes in winter if your area experiences freezing temperatures.
- Avoid contact with bleach, acid-based products, or organic solvents.
- Very large pots should be moved with at least two people and a sack trolley.
